Our ribbon cutting celebration happened last week, and wow we can’t thank you all enough for the support. Roughly 50 members of the community with elected officials came out to a ribbon cutting co-hosted by Pikeville Main Street and Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. They showed their support by celebrating our business and mission with an official grand opening.

Starting a business is not an easy task, but doing business in the city of Pikeville sure had made things a lot easier. We were awarded a grant from the Pikeville Main Street Program to offset some of our startup costs before we opened our doors. It has helped us tremendously through this phase of our journey. If you’re considering starting a business in downtown please reach out to the city of Pikeville and apply for this amazing incentive package. Pikeville is a great community for startups and are dedicated to the revitalization of our community by supporting a diverse economy.

One of the advantages to starting a business in Appalachia and in our home town of Pikeville is the overwhelming support from our friends and family. Our shop is a place to gather and have conversations with both new and familiar faces, relax, spark new ideas, find inspiration and learn.

We love seeing students from UPIKE studying in the atmosphere that we have created. We always had visions of a cozy place where study groups would gather around and work together and sure enough, that vision came to life! I can remember doing most of my studying as a student in Kinzer dorms on the hill because we didn’t have a coffee shop in town at the time.

We hope that we can build community through our coffee shop and simply do good things for others. When we do good for others, people will “suffer less and experience more.” When we think of others, things start to change and our community gets stronger.

Let’s challenge ourselves to uplift those around us everyday, and let them know that they are loved.
