It’s almost here folks, Christmas is just around the corner! This weekend we are celebrating Shop Small Saturday where we promote small businesses to show them our support. Of course, we hope that everyone shops small for the holiday season and hopefully throughout the year. When we support local businesses, our dollars are spent in our community and are reinvested into projects that we care about.
It’s easy to want to order something online because you can sit around the house and it’s as easy as click, click, click all day, but you’re missing out on a one-of-a-kind experience when you don’t shop locally. Businesses in our own community have unique gifts that you won’t find online.
Don’t forget, you can also purchase experiences as gifts this season. Who wouldn’t love to go to a concert at the Appalachian Wireless Arena with friends or family, a show at the Appalachian Center for the Arts, a dinner for two at the Blue Raven or a cozy coffee date?
While you’re shopping downtown this weekend, we are offering a free 12oz drip coffee when you purchase a bag of coffee beans! Casey roasted a fresh batch this week for you to enjoy with your family and friends! On top of all the reasons you already know why you should shop local this season, we are turning up the heat with a little friendly challenge. We are challenging all of our friends to purchase five things from a local business this Saturday and tag the business on social media to let them know how awesome they are.
Together, we can start a shop local movement in east Kentucky. Each item that you purchase helps support the local families that have invested their own dollars to try to create a unique Appalachian experience in our hometown.
